As an early career faculty member from a group that is historically underrepresented in engineering, you deserve an inclusive and empowering community that recognizes your expertise and is committed to seeing you thrive, personally and professionally. That is why we started Project ELEVATE.
Project ELEVATE is an alliance between Carnegie Mellon University, Johns Hopkins University, and New York University focused on creating a model for private highly selective engineering schools to function with equity, empowerment, and excellence.
Our mission? To help outstanding faculty from diverse backgrounds, like you, advance and succeed in academia.
We know the challenges typically faced by early career faculty as they navigate the tenure process at leading research institutions. You have so much to offer, but barriers exist. We want to remove those obstacles through institutional changes, impactful mentorship, and inclusive professional development.
As Project ELEVATE evolves, you'll be the first to benefit from new initiatives, resources, and opportunities.
Institutional Commitment
Our roadmap for change begins with a collaborative partnership among peer institutions, leadership buy-in, equity-minded partners, higher education expertise, and culturally responsive evaluators; We are working toward a shared goal.
As an alliance, CMU, NYU and JHU will partner to develop a model that can be used at private institutions to strengthen their engineering schools. Within this alliance, collaboration and commitment from university and college leadership will be crucial to long-term success. By collaborating through an alliance, we can leverage resources from the three institutions and learn from each other, cultivating innovation within our institutions.
